Brown Secures 2006 Honda Player of the Year Honors with BSOP #4 Victory

Poker Newswires -- December 2, 2006 (Crestwood, MO)

After a very disappointing early exit in the last event, overall favorite and BSOP host LeBrown James made short work of 11 challengers to capture his second BSOP title in four tries and land a first prize of $150. Faced with the tall task of proving his last effort was merely an aberration, James faced additional pressure with the inaugural "Citibet" which paid out handsomely to those who wagered that a Citi employee would pull off the win. Other in-the-money finishers included the volatile Wolfski (2nd/$75), a long-waited strong performance by BSOP executive committee member Doubling Up Gotti (3rd/$50), and another Citi employee and childhood favorite, Cottontail (4th/$25). Chinchsportsbook.com took in a total of $67 in featured side bets and thanks to the strong math skills inherent in rodentia, only dispursed $63 in winnings, for a house cut of 6%.

I'd like to thank all my fans, friends, and enemies for helping make this possible. It's an honor to be named player of the year among all these outstanding "athletes". I'd like to also thank the phenomenal sponsors of the BSOP. It's been a great year and I look forward to attempting to defend my title next year.

With runner-runner,
LeBrown James
